flowers--what kind of symmetry is seen in these flowers? flowers closeup--do you see that the calyces are zygomorphic, just like the corollas?
flowers again--in Salvia, as in most members of the mint family, the flowers are arranged in whorls calyces (sepals)--notice how everything in this picture is covered with an extremely fine white pubescence?  This type of pubescence is referred to as farinose, and thus the specific epithet of this species is farinacea.
