inflorescence--as in most members of the carrot family, this species possesses umbels for inflorescences.  However, they are born in the nodes rather than terminally, and so this species is called Torilis nodosa.  How many petals are present in each flower? leaf and inflorescence--Do you see the short, scalelike hairs that cover the stems and leaves?
 
habit--Torilis nodosa is a spring-flowering annual herb that is not native to Texas.  It branches from the base, and has a very tough root system.  It is a bear to try to pull one out that has grown to this size!
